Charles Brkic Wins Lexus Points Challenge

The 2019 Lexus Points Challenge competition wrapped up yesterday in somewhat dramatic fashion, with the final results all hinging on the final round, and even the final few groups in the field of the final.

Generously sponsored by Lexus of Maroochydore, the Lexus Points Challenge is now in its 4th year. The event was expanded this year to include all players entering our Thursday Men’s competition on the nominated round dates, which gave us a “Leaderboard” of more than 240 players who merited points in the competition (only the top third of the field receive Points each round). Points are allocated based on the Leaderboard of the daily competition or finishing position of the player in the field relative to the rest of the field. If players finish with the same score, the Australian Countback system is used to determine the order of points given.

Charles Brkic won the major price – a Lexus Titleist Golf Bag – after scoring a total of 926 points.

Barry Bowditch finished strongly – scoring a nett 69 to win the A Grade competition yesterday – to shoot up the Leaderboard and claim Runner-Up with 769 points, edging out Peter Richardson who scored 746 points.

Phil Joyce won the award for Best Average, after he scored 791 points in just 8 rounds – a ‘Bradman-esque’ average of 98.88. Phil was averaging above 100 points per round until yesterday’s final.
