Ian Andrews Wins Inaugural Atkinsons Air Order of Merit

The Atkinsons Air Order of Merit Competition was formed early in 2019, and is theoretically the Mount Coolum Golf Club Saturday Male Player of the Year Award. With a points system awarded for a players finishing position in every Saturday singles event, the Atkinsons Air OOM works similar to a Fed-Ex Cup type competition.

With thanks to some generous sponsorship from Atkinsons Air, this competition has a significant Honour Board and also comes with a great prize purse for the winners and place-getters.

After 33 eligible rounds from April this year, Ian Andrews has emerged as the inaugural Atkinsons Air Order of Merit Champion, earning 1675 points in the Saturday competitions he played throughout the year. While this type of competition favours players who play the most rounds, Ian was ‘only’ able to play in 25 rounds, and scored a decent 67 points per round played average.

The winner of the best average was Tiaan Scheepers, who played in just 8 rounds and scored an average of 132 over those eight rounds, good enough for 8th overall.

A “ball rundown” of the top 10 placegetters were awarded a free round at Maroochy River’s new Mini Golf complex.

In 2020, we will start the competition on Saturday 1st February, and it will run right through until the last Saturday in November on every single player Saturday event throughout the year.

The Atkinsons Air Order of Merit is open to all male Members playing at the Club on Saturdays, with players automatically entered on the first competition played.

Thanks once again to Craig Atkinson and the team at Atkinsons Air for their generous sponsorship and support of this event and our Club.
