Peter Hawkins has won the 2020 Saturday Triple Challenge Competition, which wrapped up last Saturday with the Par round.
Somehow we managed to complete all three rounds as scheduled, given the disruptions over the last two weeks with the wet weather. Although the numbers in the field were slightly affected, with only 43 or the initial 53 entries completing all three rounds.
Peter played progressively better throughout the three-week ‘tournament’, leaping up from 7th overall after two rounds to snatch victory with the final round. Peter scored just outside the Top 10 in the first round (stroke), improving to finish 10th in the second round (stableford), and then 2nd in the final (par) round to jump up 6 spots and collect the win.
David O’Connell and Serguei Sokolov finished equal second, with Serg claiming the prize on countback. Dave’s three scores were completely opposite to Peter’s, with Dave starting out with a 2nd place in the first round, a Top 10 finish to maintain second on the Leaderboard after two rounds, but then faltered in the final par round finishing mid-field. Meanwhile, Serg was fairly consistent over the final two rounds finishing second and forth in the stableford and par rounds, but had a horrid start in the stroke round where he was middle of the pack.
