Scott “Scooter” Mitchell shot his career-best Mount Coolum round on Saturday, and in doing so wrapped up the 2022 Saturday Triple Challenge in fine style.
Scott shot a round of 65 – 3 strokes better than his previous best at Mount Coolum. Starting his round on the 10th hole, he holed a couple of good putts early on to be 3 under par after 3 holes. Further birdies at 17, 18, 2 and 3 saw him sit at 7 under par after 12 holes. A missed four-foot putt on 4 was the only blemish on the scorecard – a solitary bogey. Mitchell picked that shot back up with a final birdie on 6. Playing off a handicap of 1, his 7-under-par round resulted in 44pts to record the best score of the day by the Triple Challenge entrants by 3 points.
Scott’s earlier rounds of Nett 77 in the Stroke round, and +1 in the Par event, combined to give him a 3-round score of 249 pts.
Second place overall went to Michael Ferraz on 245 pts, after rounds of Nett 73, +2 and 33pts.
