Glenn Esden overcame a three-stroke deficit, before running away with his first Club Championship this afternoon.
Overnight leader Stephan Scheepers had a bad final nine, while Esden got better as the round went on – closing out the Championship with impressive birdies at 17 and 18 today.
At 53 years of age, and having been a MCGC Member for 11 years, it was the first Club Championship in Esden’s career. With rounds of 76.78.74.76 – for a total 304, Glenn was the only player in the Championship to shoot four rounds in the 70’s.
Bruce Bennett secured a a narrow one-stroke victory in B Grade, while Life Member Robert Gatt ran away with C Grade, winning by 7 strokes.
