The 2023 District Open & Closed Championships were held at Mt Coolum on Sunday 8th October. Unfortunately, given the number of prizes on offer, the participation was very disappointing.
Whilst the weather was not the best, this is the District’s flag ship event and to have only 61 players take part is something that needs to be looked at.
Nevertheless, the players that did compete had a great time and the course was once more presented in great shape by our Course Superintendent, Todd McNamee and his staff.
The big winner on the day was Headland’s Adam Richards who went home with $1000.00 after winning both the Open & Closed with a score of 74 events worth $500 each. Headland’s Ben Duncombe claimed the Div 1 Gross Winner with 75 and Mt Coolum’s Scott Mitchell was Runner Up on 77.
Div 2 Gross Winner was Jamie Webb from Mt Coolum with 82 and the Div 3 Gross winner was Anthony Nolan also from Mt Coolum with a great score of 82 (Anthony is also the owner of a brand-new handicap, he went from 19.0 to 7.6)
Anyone who won a prize but was unable to collect their prize on the day, all left over prizes are being held in the office for pick up.
