Silvana’s third round was where the Championship was won though, as she pulled away from the group with a magnificent round of 81, before sealing the victory with another sub-90 score of 89 (one of only five score below 90 for the entire tournament). The 81 score in the third round was the best round recorded in the women’s championships since Jean Brkic claimed the title with a sublime 81 and 79 in the final two rounds in 2017.
Vicki Garrood (98-101-97-96=392) won the B Grade Championship in a much closer contest, where the top 8-9 players were all within 10 shots heading into the final round. Vicki was rewarded for her strong and consistent finish, carding a 97 and 96 in the final two rounds to clinch the win. Only Kerryn Hyde’s 95 in the 4th round (which lifted Kerryn (400) to 5th overall) was better than Vicki’s closing rounds in the B Grade competition.
Runner-Up Jenny Robinson (396), Sam Brown (398), Cheryl Cowley (399) and even Elly Cooper (7th on 404) were all in contention for the B Grade trophy, but just couldn’t keep with Vicki in the closing rounds.
Nicky Robinson wrapped up the C Grade Championship with a very consistent tournament, scoring 111-110-112-110=443 to win from Christa Louw (111-111-110-118=450) who unfortunately let the title slip away in the 4th round. Christa was leading the competition after the 3rd round, but unfortunately couldn’t maintain the stability right to the end and finished Runner-Up
