The 2019 Mount Coolum Junior Open was held yesterday 28th July in perfect conditions, with a little cloud cover keeping the temperature just right for the 50+ strong junior field.
Ben Duncombe (Coral Cove) scored a magnificent 73 off the stick to take out the main prize of Junior Champion. His round included a spectacular eagle on the 17th after he sank his 6ft putt.
James Daniel (Headland) won the Overall Best Nett on a countback form Max Rogers (Noosa) and Ruby Kavanagh (Maroochy River), proving the girls can mix it with the boys.
Our own Wilson Foster, competing in his last Junior event before his 18th birthday next month, won the Division 2 gross prize with a 71.
Riko Danjo (Royal Pines) won the girls Division 1 gross prize with her score of 81, and Ruby won the Division 2 gross prize with 84, which included a magnificent approach for 60 metres out on the 9th hole that dropped in for birdie.

Well done to all the players who stayed back for the presentations and heard all the kids who won a prize present a great little victory speech. It was great to see these juniors speaking so well and humbly of their playing group.
The Mount Coolum Junior Open is proudly supported by The Invincibles Tour, and the event is a qualifying event for the IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship and the Invincibles Tour, and by doing so, qualified for the Sunshine.
Congratulations to Mitchell Revie (Hills) and Amy Hodgkins (Redcliffe) who qualified for The Invincibles 2019 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship, which will be held in last week of the September School holidays (29th of September to the 2nd of October – 2019).
Ruby Kavanagh won The Invincibles Tour Course Cup with the aforementioned nett score of 71, and by doing so, qualified for the Sunshine Coast Gold Cup of Cups Championship that will be hosted by Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort on Sunday 24th November.

In the 9 Hole Competition, Phoenix Gaulke (Pine Rivers) won the Boys 9 Hole Championship with 44, edging out Sam Wilson (Maroochy River) on 46. Ellianna MacRae (Maroochy River) won the girls 9-Hole division with 38 from Layla Barnett on 44.
