The Clubs return to competitions as of 2nd May was very well received by most members, although it was a bittersweet moment for Richard “Dickie” Cattell. While Dickie will relish playing competitions again, the timing was all wrong.
You see, Dickie hit his first ever Hole in One on Saturday 25th April (ANZAC Day), just one week before the return of competitions. And during the current COVID environment, there was just one witness to his feat, that of his playing Dave Sadler.
Every Golfer can’t wait to hit that elusive Hole in One, but unfortunately for Dickie he didn’t quite wait long enough for his Hole in One to be made during a competition, where he would get verified acknowledgment and even financial rewards from his Hole in One, by way of Nearest the Pin awards and Hole in One ‘jackpots’.
Luckily Dave was on hand to record the moment they walked to the green to confirm the Ace. So while Dickie won’t get any credit for a NTP, we can share his accomplishment here for everyone to witness.
* Warning: some members may be offended by the breech of social-distancing shown in the video resulting from the excitement of the players 😊
Congratulations Dickie on your Hole in One!
And thanks Dave for the video and the commentary.
