Last Thursday, Howie Gelfand – an MCGC member for over 20 years, recorded a score of +1 in the Single Par event of the day, to wrap up the 2021 Thursday Triple Challenge.
The Thursday Triple Challenge attracted 81 entrants this year, and sees players score points based on their scores of the day in the nominated Stableford, Stroke and Par events over consecutive weeks. For example, the player with the best score in the first round was awarded 81 points, second best 80 points, and so on.
Howie came from 7th place after two rounds to secure the win. His +1 was combined with scores of 35 points in the Stableford round, and a Nett 74 in the Stroke round. The Triple Challenge rewards consistent scoring, with Howie playing the three nominated rounds in just 2 over his handicap.
His total score of 201 pts was 9 pts clear of the runner-up Dain Stone.
