In the battle of the father-son combinations for the Mount Coolum Men’s 4-Ball Handicap Match Play, Allan and Jayden Smee defeated Dave and Kyle Sunderland 4&3 on Saturday.
Reflecting on the victory, Allan Smee said the front nine was pretty steady, and saw he and Jayden turn 1-up. Allan had 5 pars in the first 10 holes himself, before Jayden showed his stamina, and made some good pars on the back nine. According to Allan, the final score did not reflect how tight the match was.
Allan was amazed to see Kyle smash his 5-wood 2nd shot on the 15th 20 metres past the green, as the pressed to extend the match.
For Allan, the victory alongside Jayden – who has only recently returned to golf, was extra special, and he knows that Dave would have been equally pleased to record the victory with his son Kyle.
