2022 Club Championship Format

Due to the growing membership here at Mount Coolum and the associated additional pressure on timesheets, some changes have been made to the Club Championship formats to ensure that as many participants can be accommodated as possible.  This will have an impact on the release of timesheets and booking availability for this Friday evening – so please read on…

WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Women’s Club Championship will be held later in the year, with the first round scheduled for Saturday 21st May.  Further information regarding the Women’s Championship will be made available as we get closer.

To facilitate maximum involvement in the Men’s Club Championships, Women will not be able to book in for their competition of the day until 6:00pm on the Saturday, 7 days ahead.

To illustrate this point, male members will be able to book at the kiosks this Friday night and Saturday morning, and online from noon, but female members will not be able to book (at the kiosks or online)  until 6:00pm this Saturday.

We understand that this may require some juggling for those that wish to play in mixed groups.  However, this is the most effective way to ensure that as many Championship competitors as possible can be accommodated.

It is expected that there will still be spots available for female Members, but it is possible that there may not be the 50-odd spots to accommodate all our regular Saturday women.

Naturally, mechanisms will be in place for the female Members to have priority bookings when their Championship comes around in May.

MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

ELIGIBILITY

The following categories are NOT eligible to WIN the Club Championships:

  • 40 Round
  • Pay as You Play
  • Country

We respectfully request that these Members refrain from booking their round for the daily competition until 6:00pm on the Saturday – as per the female members restrictions.

Should the timesheets look like filling up before this time, Members in the above categories may be removed from the timesheet to enable those wishing to play in the Championship to book.

DATES

  • Round 1 – Saturday 19th March
  • Round 2 – Saturday 26th March
  • Round 3 – Saturday 2nd April
  • Round 4 – SUNDAY 3rd April – for top 20 available qualifiers in each grade

EVENTS

  • All rounds will be played from the BLACK MARKERS.
  • There will be NO white marker event for the first two rounds.  This should ensure that all players that want to contest the Championships will be able to get on the timesheet.
  • The March Monthly Medal – sponsored by PWP – Paddy Walsh Painting, will be played in conjunction with the first round.
  • The April Monthly Medal – sponsored by PWP – Paddy Walsh Painting, will be played in conjunction with the third round.
  • Only be the top 20 available players in each grade will contest the final round in a seeded draw.  Please ensure that your calendars are clear to contest the 4th round should you qualify.
  • All competitors are permitted to ride in golf carts
  • There is NO up-front payment required.  Members will simply pay the daily competition fee for each round.
  • LOCAL RULES – Members are reminded that it is their individual responsibility to be familiar with the Rules of Golf and the Local Rules that are in play on any given day.

TIMESHEETS

The timesheets will be released at the normal times.  Priority will be given to male members who are eligible to win the Club Championships.  Female members, and male Members who are ineligible, have been asked to refrain from booking for the first 24 hours that the timesheet is available.
